Rick MaherRick’s journey began at an early age. Adopted into a large family by a single mom, he grew up poor and learned how to survive. With the odds stacked against him, Rick’s life could have ended up very differently. Instead, he chose a career in sales and used his past as the fuel to drive him toward success.

Like many of you, Rick struggled in sales at first. He had no training, experience, or a mentor. To overcome this adversity, Rick learned how to sell by trial and error with his customers. After many failed attempts, Rick created a way to present products that entertained his prospects while separating him from the competition. Using this method as a financial consultant, he sold 110 investments in only six weeks. Applying his model to other businesses, Rick set records in five different industries across the United States and the rest is history.

Unlike many sales consultants, Rick didn’t focus on the products, he sold himself. Rick didn’t close his customers, he opened them. His radically different view was simple and it worked. Mastering rapport with his customers became his trademark and an explosion of sales and endless speaking opportunities came as a result. When Rick sold customers one at a time, his closing ratio was nearly 50%. During group presentations however, Rick was known to sell entire audiences on occasion. He claims that the only product he ever sold was himself. When Rick trained and recruited for companies, he didn’t just train salespeople how to be likeable; he hired likeable people and trained them how to sell themselves. This was more efficient and profitable.

Unlike many speakers and trainers, Rick doesn’t just tell you WHAT to do, he tells you HOW to do it. He tells you what to say, how to say it, and when to say it. The combination of knowledge, enthusiasm, and timing are powerful.  Rick doesn’t like the term, “sales presentation” and instead, refers to the sales process as a conversation where relationships are born, energy is exchanged, and benefits are anticipated. There is no better feeling than to enter a sales appointment loaded with confidence, knowing that your customer is going to be buying both you and your product today. Shouldn’t everyone feel this way before meeting with the prospect?
